Renee’s Friends Fund (RFF) is a Colorado based charity that provides hope by assisting with living expenses as patients go through treatments and therapies necessary to fight breast cancer. Applications are processed quickly and funds are granted to qualified Colorado cancer survivors. As a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, we provide non-medical expenses such as transportation, household costs, food and supportive therapies. Renee’s Friends Fund is an all volunteer organization and is unique in that survivors can get help from the fund during and after treatments for up to 1 year. The charity was created after Colorado horsewoman Renee Coble was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. During treatment, Renee realized the extreme need for this type of help. This spurred Renee and her friends to take action! They combined their passion for horses with a new found passion for aiding women with breast cancer.
Renee’s Friends Fund (RFF) was one of the first charities of its kind in Colorado. In 2004, RFF began providing non-medical financial assistance to breast cancer patients who were being forced to choose between medical treatment and paying for food, gas, utilities, or their mortgage, because while going through treatment they were no longer able to work.
Since then, Renee’s Friends Fund (RFF), has provided more than $323,000 in financial assistance to people facing the challenges of living with breast cancer. This has been made possible by the overwhelming support from the Colorado horse community. RFF is run by an all volunteer board and staff, which means over 90% of all funds from individuals and community events goes directly to clients, giving help and hope to those facing the disease.
Over the past 5 years, hundreds of low to middle income Colorado breast cancer survivors have gotten help from RFF – enabling them to maintain housing and utility services, make medical co-payments, and meet other critical expenses while they were too sick to work. And, RFF works closely with several hospitals and cancer centers throughout Colorado to assure that its funds are readily available to any breast cancer patient in need.
Renee’s Friends Fund invites you to, in any way you can, join them in their mission to answer these calls for help and give a fighting chance for every life threatened by breast cancer.
